Remembering Vijay Crishna: A Tribute to the Actor Who Played Shah Rukh Khan’s Father in Devdas
Veteran actor Vijay Crishna has passed away at the age of 81. His death was confirmed by actress Lillete Dubey, who shared the heartbreaking news on her Instagram account on March 3. Remembering him fondly, Lillete described Vijay as a ‘brilliant actor’.
Vijay is best known for his role as Shah Rukh Khan's father in the iconic film Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

In her touching tribute, Lillete posted a photo with Vijay and expressed her sorrow, stating, “Heartbroken... our dearest Vijay Crishna... part of our theatre family & ‘Dance Like a Man’ for over 25 years... a man of many parts... a brilliant actor, handsome, charming, and bright with his trademark humor.”
She added, “RIP my Jairaj... you will never be forgotten. May you entertain the angels as you did us all here. Love & prayers for his lovely wife Smita, daughters Nyrika & Freyan, and the whole family.”
Anupam Kher and Others React
Reactions to the news have poured in, with Anupam Kher commenting, “That is so so sad. Om shanti!” Saif Ali Khan's sister, Saba, expressed her condolences, calling it “very sad news.” Director Nupur Asthana joined in, offering her deepest condolences.
The cause of Vijay's death has not yet been disclosed by his family.
