Vijay Requests 15-Day Extension for CBI Questioning in Karur Stampede Incident

Actor and political figure Vijay has requested a 15-day extension to appear for questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the tragic Karur stampede case.

The CBI summoned Vijay for a new round of questioning on March 10, following the deadly stampede that occurred during a rally on September 27, which claimed the lives of 41 individuals and injured over 60 others.

Vijay cited prior political commitments in his request for the extension. The CBI has indicated that they will send fresh summons to him.

In addition to seeking more time, Vijay has also requested that the questioning take place at the CBI's office in Chennai or any other location within Tamil Nadu. The agency is considering this request.

This is not Vijay's first interaction with the CBI; he was previously questioned over two days in January, where he was interrogated for almost six hours at the agency's headquarters.

Background on the Stampede

The stampede erupted during a political rally organized by Vijay's party, the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). As Vijay addressed the massive crowd, panic ensued, leading to chaos and numerous casualties, including women and children.

Vijay expressed his condolences to the victims' families, stating, "I express my deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of my dear brothers and sisters who lost their lives in Karur. I pray for a speedy recovery for those undergoing treatment in hospital."
