Meryl Streep Opens Up About Fan Frenzy During The Devil Wears Prada 2 Shoot
Meryl Streep recently shared her thoughts on filming The Devil Wears Prada 2 alongside Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, noting how the project turned into a spectacle.
The highly anticipated sequel to the 2006 classic is set to hit theaters on May 1, featuring the return of beloved characters, including Streep as Miranda Priestly. As fans eagerly awaited the film, the set was inundated with enthusiastic supporters and paparazzi.
Recalling the filming experience, Streep mentioned the overwhelming nature of the attention they received: “Even though we were aware of the impact of the first film, none of us were prepared for the ambush of both goodwill and avid attention that engulfed us. We needed police barriers and crowd control. Buses of fans turned up, and paparazzi swarmed, even jumping in front of the camera!”
Anne Hathaway also shared a memorable incident where she fell during a scene, yet maintained her composure, stating, “I was aware that I was falling, I was aware that I was being photographed.”

The original film, based on Lauren Weisberger's novel, portrays a young woman's challenging experience working at a fashion magazine. It was a commercial success, grossing over $326 million globally and earning Streep a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination.
The sequel reunites the original cast and crew, including director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, while introducing new characters played by talents like Kenneth Branagh and Lucy Liu.
With Wendy Finerman producing, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for a theatrical release in India on May 1.
