Bengali Film Industry Mourns the Loss of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee

Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has sadly passed away at the age of 43. He tragically drowned on March 29 at Talsari beach in Odisha, leaving the film community in shock. Following the news of his unexpected death, numerous actors from the Bengali film industry expressed their condolences on social media.


Actor Jeet shared his grief on X, stating, “Deeply saddened to hear about his sudden passing. Gone far too soon… it’s a stark reminder of how uncertain life truly is. May his soul rest in peace. Strength and prayers to his family. RIP Rahul. Om Shanti.”


Dev, who featured in a special dance number in Rahul's debut film, expressed his sadness on Instagram, simply saying, “Rest in peace bhai.” Similarly, Parambrata Chatterjee commented, “I have no words left to say.”


Subhashree Ganguly, who collaborated with Rahul in the series Indubaala Bhater Hotel, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. She reflected, “Eto kiser tara chilo tor, chhoto (Why were you in such a hurry, dear one)?” She also requested privacy for Rahul's family during this difficult time.


Director Srijit Mukerji, who had worked with Rahul in various projects, expressed his disbelief on Facebook, asking, “Eta ki holo, Tubaida (How did it happen, Tubai)?”


Singer Sahana Bajpaie penned an emotional tribute, recalling their last meeting and the warmth of their conversations. She lamented, “In these turbulent times, we needed you so very much—because, in this kingdom of jellyfish, you were a true exception.”


Rahul rose to fame with the 2008 hit film Chirodini Tumi Je Amar, and his contributions to Bengali cinema will always be remembered. He leaves behind his wife, Priyanka, and son, Shohoj.
