Bihar’s Youth Demand Government Focus on Education and Employment

In Bihar, college students, many of whom are first-time voters, are expressing their concerns over the lack of job opportunities. This situation has compelled many of their seniors to leave the state in search of work. They are calling for a government that prioritizes strengthening the education system and generating employment.

Frustration has grown due to irregular government job postings, which are often affected by paper leaks and delayed exam schedules.

With assembly polls approaching in two phases on November 6 and 11, approximately 14 lakh youth are set to vote for the first time. Voters aged 18-29 make up around 22-25% of the state's electorate, totaling 1.63 crore.

Abhinav Kumar Shukla, a postgraduate student at Patna University, voiced his disillusionment with the current government, stating, "Our hopes have faded completely." He emphasizes the need for widespread employment generation in the state.

Santosh Kumar, a visually impaired student from Patna College, believes that the current state of Patna University does not match its illustrious past. Once renowned as the 'Oxford of the East', the campus now appears neglected.

Students are also advocating for the central university status for Patna University, despite acknowledging that conditions in central universities are not significantly better.

Ravindra Kumar Singh, studying at Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, highlighted the poor implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act in Bihar, expressing his intention to vote for a party that prioritizes education.

Many students resonate with Prashant Kishor's promise that "Bihar's youth won't have to leave the state for work" if his party gains power.

Gaurav Kumar, a postgraduate psychology student, criticized the dismal state of health and education sectors, stating that corruption is rampant and migration is a major concern.

As the youth prepare for the elections, their call for a government that emphasizes education and employment remains strong, reflecting a collective desire for change in Bihar.
