US Schools Halt Class Pictures Amid Epstein-Related Claims

MALAKOFF, Texas — A number of school districts across the United States, including Malakoff, have decided to cancel class picture days following a wave of social media allegations linking photography company Lifetouch to Jeffrey Epstein. Lifetouch has firmly rejected these claims as "completely false."

The controversy began when online posts suggested that Lifetouch, which captures photos of millions of students annually, was connected to Apollo Global Management, an investment firm led by billionaire Leon Black, who had close ties with Epstein.

In 2019, Apollo acquired Shutterfly, Lifetouch's parent company, just a month after Epstein's death while awaiting trial on serious charges. Both Lifetouch and Apollo have publicly stated that there is no connection between them and Epstein, asserting that Lifetouch has never shared student images with any third party.

In response to parent concerns in Malakoff and other Texas districts, local schools opted to cancel photography days to ensure the safety and privacy of students. Parents like MaKallie Gann expressed worries about the personal information collected by Lifetouch during photo sessions.

Despite the uproar, no evidence has surfaced linking Epstein to Lifetouch photos or operations. The recent release of Epstein-related documents has only heightened scrutiny around his associations with various public figures.

The Malakoff school district is now considering alternative methods for capturing student photos, indicating a shift towards in-house photography for the upcoming school year.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding privacy and the impact of social media narratives on public perception.
