Dhurandhar 2: A Milestone in Bollywood as the First Film to Earn ₹1000 Crore

Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first Bollywood film to cross the ₹1000 crore mark at the Indian box office.

This extraordinary feat comes just 18 years after the term '100 crore club' was introduced, following Aamir Khan’s blockbuster Ghajini. The evolution of the Indian film industry has been astonishing, and now, with Dhurandhar 2 achieving this unprecedented success, it joins the ranks of only two other films—Baahubali 2 and Pushpa 2.

Dhurandhar 2’s ₹1000-Crore Journey

In its first two weeks, Dhurandhar 2 amassed ₹938 crore. On its third Friday, the film experienced a significant boost, earning ₹21.55 crore, followed by ₹25.65 crore on Saturday, bringing its total to ₹985 crore. The film sailed past the ₹1000 crore milestone shortly after, and there’s a good chance it will exceed ₹1100 crore before its theatrical run concludes.

To put this achievement in perspective, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan earned just over half of this amount three years ago, while Aamir Khan's Dangal, which held the record for over six years, earned only one-third of Dhurandhar 2's total.

How Dhurandhar 2 Surpassed Dangal and Pathaan

The film's success is attributed to high ticket prices, averaging ₹360-380, which is unprecedented in Indian cinema. With approximately 3.2 crore tickets sold, Dhurandhar 2 is on track to surpass Pathaan's ticket sales, despite the latter having a higher total ticket count due to lower prices.

Dangal sold around 3.7 crore tickets, but its average ticket price of ₹150-160 limited its earnings. Despite the challenges posed by competition from OTT platforms and decreased footfalls, Dhurandhar 2's success is a testament to its strong appeal.

Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar 2 features a stellar cast including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun.
