Dhurandhar 2: Aditya Dhar’s Vision for Intense Action Revealed

Dhurandhar 2's action director, Aejaz Gulab, has shared insights on how director Aditya Dhar emphasized the need for intense action sequences in the film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Aejaz mentioned that Aditya encouraged the team to adopt a 'manly' approach, pushing for brutal stunts, yet only 60% of the originally intended violence made it into the final cut.

In an interview, Aejaz explained that the graphic content had to be moderated to accommodate younger audiences who might watch the film on OTT platforms later. "We had shot all the brutality in detail, but what you see in the film is just 60%. Since we’re in the OTT era and kids may eventually watch it, we had to tone it down," he said.

The action sequences were crafted under Aditya Dhar's creative guidance. Aejaz recalled, "Aditya Dhar gave us full freedom. He said, ‘Aejaz bhai (brother), think as brutally as you can. Kill in the most intense ways you can imagine.’ And we did just that, incorporating his directorial touch to elevate the stunts beyond mere physicality.

Improvised Climax for Authenticity

Some of the film's most impactful moments were spontaneous improvisations. Aejaz highlighted a particular scene where Hamza uses debris to dispatch an aide of Major Iqbal inside a mosque, noting that many ideas emerged organically during filming. Aditya aimed for the action to feel authentic, visceral, and larger-than-life.

The film's climax, extending over 30 minutes, presented significant challenges. Aejaz mentioned that the mosque sequence required six days of rehearsals and 14 days of shooting, demanding meticulous attention to continuity from every department involved.

Actors' Dedication and Safety Measures

Lead actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal exhibited remarkable dedication, particularly during a chain-fight scene utilizing rubber chains. Despite the safety measures, both actors sustained injuries but persevered through rehearsals and filming.

Aejaz concluded by describing the intricate process behind the action sequences, emphasizing a blend of props, camera techniques, and visual effects to effectively portray the film's intended brutality on screen.
